Anatomy of Corruption
after John Donne
In fetid cells where darkness congregates the noisome hum of putrefaction waits to seize the vitals of our mortal frame and reduce the grandeur of our reasoned claims to naught but vile and loathsome sediment
The subtle web of arterioles and veins now clogged with viscous residue and grime as if the very marrow of our bones had been infected with the foul taint of time and all our lofty aspirations sunk in mire of their own decadent decay
I drew from John Donne's fascination with death and decay, as well as his use of complex metaphors and learned diction, to explore the idea of corruption as a physical and moral process. I aimed to capture the sense of urgency and intellectual intensity that characterizes his work.
